On Thurs 14 May the Chieftain travelled to Madinat Zayed to present a cheque for AED6000 part of a charity donation to the Kindergarten School Al Shatha to help with its development. The Chieftain was met by the school Principal and the British Advisor to the school, Helen Robb of CfBT Education Trust.
The children gave a wonderful show of music and dance for the audience of mothers.
The Chieftain was given an opportunity to say a few words and present the cheque and a number of Saltires for the children. The Chieftain explained about the Society and its Aims for the Charity work in the Emirates. He also explained in a light hearted way some of the details of his National Dress. The mothers seemed very interested in the tartans and the fact that only men wear the kilt mainly on ceremonial occasions.
It was a wonderful event to be able to present the Society and hand over the proceeds of a raffle all donated by the Scottish Community and Friends.
